Job Description
Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! This role, reporting to an Engineering Programme Manager, will provide project management to one or more Work Packages from the Rolls-Royce SMR Engineering Programme scope. This role will work to ensure successful delivery of the Work Pack(s) to time, cost and quality. For the current phase of the SMR Programme these programmes are of a value of between £20-£50m.
Outside of the direct team, key interfaces for the role holder will be with Chief Design Engineers and Engineering Design Managers.
Your mission
- Project Management Support: Oversee execution of Work Package(s), tracking progress against performance baselines;
- Documentation Creation: Develop and maintain essential project documents for Work Package(s);
- Budget Control: Manage budgets and expenditures, ensuring alignment with agreed spending plans;
- Schedule Management: Develop and maintain timelines for Work Package(s);
- Performance Reporting: Generate reports on KPIs, including earned value and variance analysis, for Work Package(s);
- Data-Driven Improvements: Analyze project performance data to implement delivery performance enhancements;
- Risk Management: Ensure proactive risk identification and mitigation for Work Package(s);
- Change Management: Support the implementation of change processes within Work Package(s);
- Dependency Coordination: Monitor and resolve dependencies across the Engineering Programme for Work Package(s);
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Supply Chain, Safety, and Regulatory teams to address conflicts related to Work Package(s);
- Promote Best Practices: Actively contribute to fostering and implementing project management excellence;
- Champion Company Values: Uphold and embed the company’s vision, mission, and values into daily operations and culture.
What you’ll need
- Engineering Degree: A degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline;
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities;
- Proactive Mindset: A proactive attitude and enthusiasm for thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment;
- Qualification Opportunity: Interest in obtaining a formal project management qualification (e.g., AMP, PMP) – funding and support provided by Assystem.
Desirable
- Project Management Qualification: A formal project management qualification (e.g., AMP, PMP) or a degree in Project Management;
- Relevant Experience: Previous experience in project management or coordination, especially in nuclear, energy, or infrastructure sectors;
- Software Familiarity: Knowledge of project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
