Ground Segment Engineer - Operations Preparation

We are looking for a dynamic, detail-orientated and user-focused software or aerospace engineer with experience in Ground Segment Engineering to work on projects for our client, EUMETSAT. The successful candidate should have at least 5 years of experience preferably in Satellite Mission Operations Preparation, namely software support, lifecycle maintenance, integration, validation, testing, maintenance and operations preparation supporting MCS applications.

As part of the Operations Preparation team the following activities are foreseen:

  • coordinating and/or executing activities related to routine maintenance of the different operations preparation tools;
  • roadmap definition and implementation of the different operations preparation tools;
  • maintaining and evolving the application lifecycle, the application management of operations preparation tools and associated infrastructure;
  • maintaining and evolving the knowledge base using the applicable knowledge management infrastructure;
  • contributing to the procurement of operations preparation tools;
  • providing engineering and user support expertise related to the usage of operations preparation tools.

Requirements and Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience in the domain of satellite Mission Control Systems and in maintaining software systems in an operational environment;
  • MCS functions consisting of TM/TC processing chains, procedure and schedule automation, data archive, operations preparation, mission planning and ground station interfaces;
  • IV&V of complex applications;
  • Development, operation and maintenance of mission operations preparation systems and/or mission planning systems is highly valued;
  • Java, SQL, C and/or C++ programming languages and related development environments as well as open-source technologies;
  • Shell Scripting (Bash, Perl, etc.);
  • Knowledge of ECSS standards relevant to the MCS domain;
  • Knowledge of the following tools or similar is an advantage: MOIS (Mission Operations Information System) DABYS (management of mission and application configuration data), spacecraft simulations, EGOS-MPS, APEX (Automation & Procedure Execution);
  • Fluency in English.

The missions to be supported are S3, S6 and EPS, possibly expanding to other existing missions such as MTG, EPS-SG, CO2M.
