About the role

As Senior Propulsion Engineer, and part of the Powertrain (PWT) Team, you will spearhead the development of our cutting-edge hydrogen-electric propulsion system for a revolutionary business aircraft. Your focus will be on the integration and certification of key components such as the Propulsion Fan, Gearbox, Air Supply Unit, Heat Exchanger, and the Electrical Propulsion Unit.

Valuable member of the team your role will be:

  • Lead the development of the electrical engine, focusing on Propulsion Fan, gearbox, Air Supply Unit, Accessory gearbox and Electrical Propulsion Unit and monitoring systems for Beyond Aero's first clean-sheet design Hydrogen-Electric powertrain for a Business Aircraft. Ensure compatibility with certification, market needs, and production requirements;
  • Study, compare, and propose options for the electrical engine, specifically Propulsion Fan, gearbox, Air Supply Unit, Accessory gearbox and Electrical Propulsion Unit;
  • Perform technical evaluations, trade studies, and requirements derivation for the specified systems, and establish the architecture and integration into the aircraft;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Program Manager and Head of Powertrain to manage technical interactions with partners and suppliers;
  • Support discussions with certification authorities, particularly focusing on Electrical Engine' safety, operations and manufacturing to meet defined requirements (FAA Part 23 and EASA CS 23);
  • Lead the roadmap definition, design, prototyping, and testing activities for Electric Engine;
  • Manage a team of engineers, you foster a positive and collaborative work, encourage open communication and spread the company value in your team.

About you

  • You have a MSc or PhD in propulsion engineering and/rotating fluids;
  • You have a working experience and understanding in an Electrical Engine certification and Conventional powerplant (CS-E/SCE19);
  • You have a working experience on turbofan concept and preliminary design, performance modelling;
  • You are experienced in Hydrogen Electric powertrain components, in particular propulsion Fan, Gearbox, Air Supply Unit, Cooling Pumps, Electric Propulsion Unit;
  • You have a proven expertise in control logic for the Electric Propulsion Unit;
  • You are experienced in electric propulsion unit development from design to laboratory testing and mainly certification for aeronautic applications;
  • You are autonomous, curious, and a good team player;
  • You are able to challenge existing process and your management in a spirit of continuous improvement;
  • You have an experience in a multi-cultural environment and understand international diversity.
