Job Description

The Head of Customer Project Management is responsible for overseeing propulsion delivery projects for both external clients and internal stakeholders. This role combines leadership of the Customer Project Management team with operational oversight of multiple projects, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality execution.

Your Main Tasks

People Management:

  • Recruitment, onboarding, and integration of new team members into Exotrail's culture;
  • Define job roles, set objectives, and conduct performance evaluations;
  • Develop career growth plans, provide regular feedback, and manage compensation and benefits;
  • Foster team motivation and job satisfaction while addressing conflicts and enforcing company values.

Project Oversight & Execution:

  • Plan and allocate resources by liaising with Engineering, Design to Manufacturing, and Production teams;
  • Maintain an up-to-date view of project status, including planning, cost tracking, and risk management;
  • Ensure project milestones are met on time, within budget, and at the required quality level;
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for customer conflicts and project challenges.

Stakeholder & Customer Management:

  • Act as the primary escalation point between Customer Project Managers and clients;
  • Represent Exotrail in external meetings and conferences as needed;
  • Liaise with Legal and Finance teams to mitigate risks and manage contracts effectively.

Process & Tools Ownership:

  • Develop standardized project management processes, templates, and best practices;
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration across project teams and departments;
  • Promote a project management mindset within Exotrail, optimizing planning, cost, quality, and risk management.

Strategic Planning & Reporting:

  • Provide regular updates to the COO on project risks, issues, and strategic decisions;
  • Lead transformation projects to improve productivity and efficiency across project teams;
  • Influence company-wide project prioritization and strategic initiatives by collaborating with executive leadership.

Preferred Experience

Education & Background:

  • Advanced degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field;
  • English proficiency at B2 level or above (mandatory); French proficiency at B2 level or above (preferred);
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in customer oriented project management, ideally in the space industry or any other industrial environment;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in team leadership, including hiring, conflict resolution, and career development.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in project planning and scheduling using tools like Microsoft Project;
  • Strong risk assessment and mitigation capabilities;
  • Contract and budget management experience;
  • Knowledge of small satellite markets and propulsion technologies is highly recommended.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to manage stress, resolve conflicts, and maintain resilience under pressure;
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities;
  • A collaborative mindset to foster teamwork and cross-functional coordination.
