Project Description
The project requires the following at a high level:
- Mobilisation of residual solids in legacy effluent management tanks;
- Retrieval of solids from tanks;
- Separation of solids from adhering nuclear inventory;
- Routing of recovered nuclear inventory for onward processing;
- Packaging and routing of residual solids for onward encapsulation (ILW and LLW).
Role Description
- Produce process engineering deliverables to support the “Appraise and Select” design phase;
- Work within a multi-discipline design team;
- Key deliverables will include:
- Process description;
- Process schematics;
- Basis of process safety;
- Underpinning calculations.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering – A formal educational background in Chemical Engineering is a must;
- Proactive and driven approach to work – Ability to take initiative and remain motivated;
- Good communication skills – Capable of collaborating with team members from different disciplines and effectively communicating ideas and solutions;
- Competent report writing skills – Ability to document findings clearly and concisely, ensuring all reports are well-structured and easy to understand;
- Comfortable under time and cost constraints – Able to work efficiently under deadlines and within budget limitations.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications:
- Chartered Chemical Engineer – Chartered status with the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) or Engineering Council (EC) is a plus;
- Experience with Sellafield Ltd procedures – Familiarity with the procedures for checking and approval within Sellafield Ltd;
- Experience in nuclear industry design delivery – Prior involvement with designing and delivering projects in the nuclear sector;
- DESEAR – Experience or knowledge of the Design Engineering Safety Assessment and Risk Management (DESEAR) process.
