The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a progressive opportunity to work within a supportive team environment, where you will utilise your skills and enthusiasm to develop, integrate and test mission critical systems, at the cutting edge of their domain.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead to provide oversight and technical assurance across multiple engineering projects, challenging the status quo. The engineering activities range from continued support to the overhaul and operation of a broad range of complex assets, upgrade projects to naval platform capability and support to future bid opportunities.
- Checking for most mechanical engineering deliverables, i.e. technical documentation, 3D CAD and technical drawings, operating instructions.
- Concept setting out, including material selection, and scoping calculations.
- Working on the full lifecycle engineering experience.
- Defining test instructions along with reviewing and interpreting results.
- Understanding of the non-conformance and change request processes.
Essential Experience of the Senior Mechanical Engineer
- Mechanical Engineering capabilities including design for manufacture, validation through hand calculation.
- Able to supervise, co-ordinate or work within a team providing guidance across multiple projects and disciplines.
- Ability to use systems engineering design processes and adapt them to suit an application.
- Experienced user of CAD systems for design, modelling, simulation and draughting.
Qualifications for the Senior Mechanical Engineer
- Mechanical Engineering Degree, or Higher National Diploma or Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Discipline with demonstrable experience and capability of working in a Senior role.
