Expert Radar Integration Engineer

Your Role:
The candidate will apply electromagnetics and electromagnetic simulation tools, physics, spatial geometry, radar signal processing principles and strong mathematical/analytical skills to:
- Analyze the interactions of millimeter-wave radar signals with vehicle body components, including reflection, diffraction and refraction, to predict the effects on radar measurements (target range, range-rate, azimuth angle, elevation angle), and ultimately predict the effects on vehicle functions that depend on radar data
- Use Electromagnetic simulation tools to quantify the effects of RF signals passing through various materials
- Innovate new analytical methods approaches, innovate new test methods, innovate new methods of visualization of complex data, continually increase Aptiv’s knowledge of the effects of vehicle body components on radar signal integrity, continually improve Aptiv’s service to our automotive OEM customers
- Interact extensively with automobile OEM customers to guide them in the design of vehicle components (including ones with complex geometries) through which radar signals pass, to achieve compatibility with automotive radars, while at the same time allowing maximum possible design latitude to our customers to meet their styling and manufacturing needs
- Communicate highly technical concepts clearly and simply to customers and others that are not experts in the field
- Characterize & analyze RF characteristics, including loss tangent values of plastics and paints, on the performance of automotive radars
- Use and interpret anechoic chamber radar testing and methodology (including full 2D-scan testing to measure off-axis effects) to determine the effects of vehicle components on radars
Your Background:
- Masters or PhD in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience with Ansys, Abaqus or similar
- Fluency in English
Nice to have:
- Strong in fundamentals of signal processing
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools
- Strong Matlab proficiency
- Automotive or similar Industry experience
- Prior CAD Modeling experience
- Experience in developing data processing tools and scripts
