CONTEXT & JOB DESCRIPTION

The spread of power electronics and power semiconductors is paving the way for the digitalisation and the electrification of our society. Also, its supply with sustainable energy is giving rise to new requirements for the conception and integration of semiconductor and interconnect materials. In this context, the EU-funded AddMorePower (AMP) project will provide the necessary characterisation and modelling techniques that meet the needs of upcoming power semiconductor technology generations.

In this context, as Business Development Engineer, you will ensure the valorisation and promotion of the novel methodologies developed by the ESRF in the project AMP toward the semiconductor industry. You will be in charge to identify their needs, to define the market positioning and to maintain and develop the activities of the Business Development Office in this strategic sector. In this highly collaborative context, you will also have the mission to identify and quantify the potential opportunities in other sectors than microelectronics and write a dedicated paper.

In detail, you will be in charge of the following tasks:

In conjunction with the partners of the AMP consortium, you will be responsible for designing, organising and setting up the exploitation of the tools developed by the ESRF within the project for market of semiconductors;
Under the supervision of the Deputy Head of Business Development, to identify the various exploitation activities of the project in markets other than semiconductors;
Identify, build and develop high potential industrial relationships in the short and medium term, with players in the microelectronics sector;
Organise meetings and visits of customers and industrial partners to member facilities of the programme;
Plan, promote and organize events, training workshops and participate in trade fairs and conferences in support of AMP promotion activities;
Organise and animate regular and extraordinary meetings to monitor the activities of the programme;
You will be responsible for the drafting of the project deliverables related with the exploitation activities under the responsibility of the ESRF.

You will be enrolled in the Business Development Office (BDO) of the ESRF and will act full time on the AMP programme supporting transversally the actions of all the consortium partners.

EXPECTED PROFILE

Engineering degree in micro-electronics, material science, physics and related fields are needed. A PhD or a further degree related to business or management (e.g. MBA) would be an asset;
Competences in design and processes for microelectronics and characterisation are requested;
A certain familiarity with the problematics of the interaction and the relationship between industry and academia would be appreciated, in particular associated with the understanding of the mechanisms of the open innovation;
Previous experience in a synchrotron or neutron source would be an asset;
At least two years' experience in a similar position;
Excellent written communication and editing skills in English are essential;
Ability to be organised and analytical, but also to take initiative and deliver original ideas;
Professionalism, trustworthiness, self-motivation and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Temporary contract of 18 months.

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
