We are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to be based in Torino, Italy. In this position you will develop advanced Part Repair capabilities (internal or with vendors) utilizing standard methods and procedures which deliver product excellence. You will responsible for repair engineering deals with serviced components. The position is also be responsible for managing special processes that represent any production or service process which generates products or services which cannot be measured, monitored, or verified without destructive testing prior to delivery and use.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced Part Repair solutions aimed at producing high quality, cost effective repairs for use on turbine and rotating equipment product lines;
  • Definition of parts acceptability criteria based on their specific application and design;
  • Write inspection/repair specs;
  • Repair tools/fixtures validation;
  • Provide engineering support to facilitate repair data collection and effective installation of repaired parts;
  • Support operations with timely short delivery solutions as required;
  • Support operations with failure investigations, internal Non-Conformance Reports and external corrective action requests from suppliers;
  • Technically qualify strategic repair vendors and maintain compliance through effective relationships and vendor score cards;
  • Ensure solutions are developed in accordance with internal New Product Introduction processes and industry standards;
  • Initiate and facilitate root cause and remedial action for relevant internal non-conformances and customer issues;
  • Support the programme and engineering teams on NPI programs relative to the process focus;
  • Writing Special Processes Specifications;
  • Castings, forgings, welding’s and coatings qualifications;
  • Reviewing purchase orders to ensure documentation (e.g. Item/Part #, Bill of Materials (BOM), Work Instructions, etc.) is established for processes. Creating documentation when not already in existence;
  • Developing and improving processes for new and existing products;
  • Preparing project budgets and monitoring spending through completion of the project. Designing and sourcing machines, tooling, and fixtures for new and existing products. Working with Value Stream Leaders and Quality Technicians to resolve process issues as they occur;
  • Knowledge to control NDT, Heat Treatments, Chemical Processes, Welding, Casting and Forging processes;
  • Hands-on approach along with technical responsibility for all special processes, ensuring consistent continuous improvement.

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter, effective at solving problems with minimal guidance;
  • It is necessary to be able to work in team, communicate effectively with management, customers, suppliers and manufacturing personnel including the ability to write clear instructions, specifications and reports;
  • Effective presentation skills are a must;
  • Fluent English writing/speaking.

Experience

  • Entry level position - up to 3 years experience advantageous.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical/Industrial Engineering.
