Pit Stop Equipment Design Team Leader

Your mission
- Lead, inspire, and manage a team of engineers/designers, responsible for developing and improving pit stop equipment;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Race Engineering & Pit Crew, Mechanical Engineering, to identify pain points, align objectives and enhance pit stop performance;
- Mentor and guide team members in their technical development, fostering an environment of creativity and continuous improvement;
- Oversee the design and prototyping of tools and equipment used during pit stops (e.g., wheel guns/nuts and retention systems, jacks, pit stop gantry etc.);
- Drive the evolution of equipment design, ensuring it meets both technical specifications and the team’s unique performance needs;
- Incorporate data-driven insights and feedback from race events to refine and optimize equipment for maximum speed and reliability;
- Ensure all equipment is compliant with FIA regulations while pushing the boundaries of innovation and performance;
- Implement solutions to improve the ergonomics, usability, and efficiency of the equipment to reduce the time spent during pit stops;
- Define and oversee rigorous testing programs with a focus on durability under extreme conditions, using both simulation and on-track data to evaluate performance;
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices within motorsport and engineering fields to introduce innovative solutions;
- Manage the end-to-end design process, including project timelines (together with our PM team) and resource allocation;
- Ensure that all equipment is delivered on time, within budget, and in line with quality standards, ready for race day.
Your profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field;
- Proven experience in an engineering or design leadership role, ideally within motorsport or high-performance engineering environments;
- Extensive experience in designing, testing, and refining mechanical systems;
- Familiarity with pit stop procedures and understanding of the importance of efficiency during race events;
- Expertise in CAD software (preferably on CATIA 3DX or V5);
- Proficiency in materials science (metals & composite), mechanical design, and manufacturing processes;
- Excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities and a strong analytical mindset;
- Team player and innovative thinker with a passion for motorsport and high-performance engineering;
- Proficiency in English language skills. German language skills will be an advantage.
