Description

We are currently looking for an ingenious Senior Electronics Engineer to join our BMS Hardware Development team within the BMS Development team within the R&D Department. As a Hardware Testing & Verification Engineer you will have the exciting opportunity of working in a group that develops state of the art solutions to improve existing and/or deliver new Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery products. The role revolves around the design and industrialization of all electronic circuitry associated with a modern Li-ion battery and/or an Energy Storage System (ESS). Indicative day-to-day tasks include, but are not restricted to, the design, simulating, prototyping, testing and debugging of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA). This role will provide the right candidate with excellent growth potential.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role includes:

  • Deciphering system requirements, and hardware aechtecture.
  • Hardware Test Plan preparation and execution.
  • Hardware regression testing and Hardware-in-the-Loop.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout design.
  • Component selection and test-setup creation.
  • Prototype bring-up, testing, debugging and design verification.
  • Execute component and system-level simulations and modeling.
  • Safeguard compliance to IEC/UL standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce and maintain documentation per testing and certification processes.
  • Collaborate in a team environment across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Contributing to the improvement of current and development of next-generation Sunlight Energy battery storage systems.

Requirements

  • University’s Degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering or relevant.
  • At least 2 years of experience as an Electronics Engineer, Embedded Hardware Engineer, Hardware Testing and Verification Engineer or similar role in the industry.
  • Solid understanding of relevant engineering standards, protocols and regulatory environment in the Global markets.
  • Experience with PCBA Functional test methods for design verification, regression testing.
  • Familiarity with Functional Testing and In-Circuit Testing for production.
  • Experience with Switching-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) (e.g. DC-DC converters).
  • Experience with Embedded Hardware design.
  • Experience with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools (e.g. Altium).
  • Experience with circuit simulation and modeling tools (e.g. LTSpice, PSpice, Matlab/Simulink etc).
  • Proficient use of standard electronics lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Electronic Loads etc.).
  • Familiarity with design principles for EMI/EMC/ESD compliance.
  • Experience in testing, validation and qualification processes for Hardware, including IEC, ISO, SAE, UL and other relative to the application standards.
  • EU permit and fulfilled military obligations – where applicable.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with BMS (Battery Management Systems) development.
  • Experience in Hardware-in-the-loop.
  • Familiarity with Hardware reliability methods and analysis (e.g. FMEDA, MTBF).
  • Familiarity with Functional Safety standards (e.g. ISO 13849, UL 2580)
  • Experience with Electrical Product Safety standards (e.g. UL 60950-1 / 62368-1)
  • Experience with risk assessment (e.g. FMEA, PFMEA, DFMEA)
