The opportunity supports our gas turbine consultancy activities. This will involve undertaking a range of very varied projects including component and equipment condition assessments, failure investigations, third party technical QA and the provision of technical advice to power plant operators and insurers/loss adjustors. You’ll prepare technical reports detailing the assessments/investigations carried out in our extensive laboratories and from in-house engineering analysis. As an Engineer/Materials Engineer you will also be reviewing technical documentation and standards associated with equipment and components whilst interacting with clients and other parties through presentations at client meetings to progress the work.
Some UK and International travel will be expected to visit customer sites in order to view equipment “in-situ”.
The Engineer/Materials Engineer will hold a degree in engineering, material science or a related subject. A relevant higher degree, i.e. PhD or equivalent would be advantageous. You must have in-depth experience of gas turbines and their materials of construction. Experience undertaking component failure investigations and a familiarity with operational/maintenance type activities will also be advantageous. You’ll need strong communication skills and the ability to share technical concepts in both written and verbal form with ease to a broad audience, not all of whom will be technical specialists. The Engineer/Materials Engineer will need a reasonable level of physical fitness to fulfil the site elements of the role. A full UK driving licence is preferable.
