Your responsibilities

  • Failure investigations of power plant components including high temperature high pressure vessels and piping, gas and steam turbines, wind turbines, etc.;
  • Provision of advice on all aspects of materials, coatings, corrosion and, where appropriate, integrity/defect assessment;
  • R&D including life extension of materials in existing power plants, advanced materials for new and next generation power plant including decarbonisation technologies;
  • Delivering accurate, detailed, and concise technical reports.

Your profile

  • A degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy or Corrosion Science. They should have or be willing to work towards Chartered Engineer status;
  • In-depth knowledge of physical metallurgy, in particular steels, nickel and cobalt alloys, advanced high temperature materials and coatings;
  • An understanding of a range of power generation technologies together with an understanding of common damage mechanisms associated with them;
  • Knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and their mitigation on a range of power and process plants;
  • As the role involves interaction across the whole of Uniper be able to effectively communicate complex ideas and solutions to a range of stakeholders.
