Digital Microelectronics Engineer
CERN - European Organization for Nuclear Research
Geneva, Switzerland
Job Description
Your responsibilities:
Are you an electronics designer with expertise in digital design implementation and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools? Do you want to play a key role in developing CERN technologies and their applications in fields such as medicine?
We are engaged in the development of a family of Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) designed for the readout of fast detectors (SiPMs), enabling precise measurement of particle arrival times within the framework of the PETVISION European project.
To strengthen our microelectronics design capabilities, we are seeking a digital electronics designer. In this role, you will contribute to the digital readout design of a chip, created in collaboration with the University of Barcelona, as part of a project supported by the CERN Knowledge Transfer Office for its promising applications in the medical domain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the digital design and implementation of ASICs for fast detector readout;
- Collaborate with the University of Barcelona to develop and optimize the chip design;
- Apply Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools to support the development process;
- Ensure high accountability in delivering tasks while integrating seamlessly in a team environment.
Your profile
Skills:
- Solid knowledge in the design and simulation of digital microelectronics circuits;
- Experience with Cadence EDA tools for physical implementation and verification;
- Proven ability to develop synthesizable Verilog RTL code, handle physical implementation (RTL to GDS), and perform functional and physical verification of digital ASICs;
- Familiarity with low power design techniques in modern CMOS processes (65nm and below).
Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State;
- You have a professional background in Electronics engineering (or a related field) and have either:
- a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
- or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
