Claxton are looking to hire an Engineering Manager on a full time, permanent basis. Based at their facility in Great Yarmouth, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the engineering team of Designers and Engineers delivering quality engineering output and technical support essential for delivery of client and internal projects as required by Claxton global locations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Accountable for on-time delivery of engineering design outputs. Being produced to the best solution for project requirements considering the budget, timescale, cost, safety, appropriate client, and industry standards.
- Effective management of the engineering staff regarding performance, development, recruitment, and business continuity.
- Support for commercial proposals team by providing accurate engineering cost, time, and resource estimations for tendering.
- Technical risk management of the engineering design process from enquiry through delivery and deployment
- Continuous improvement of the Great Yarmouth based engineering capability and processes.
- Management of engineering workload planning, budget, and forecasting
- Lead/contribute to new product development ideas, concepts, and projects.
- Support sales team with technical support via client visits and presentations.
- Ensure that the engineering team are compliant with company QHSE goals and policies.
- Manage and lead investigations into service quality incidents where required.
- Perform any other assigned work as assigned by the Head of Technical Solutions
Requirements
- Degree level qualification in a technical subject with extensive job experience and knowledge
- Demonstrable experience of project management within the engineering field.
- Engineering design process from concept through design, verification, validation, and manufacturing of the product.
- Sound knowledge of decommissioning, subsea and asset life extension product lines
- Thorough knowledge of relevant product technical regulatory and certification requirements
- Engineering design tools and systems
- Knowledge of the project delivery process
- Demonstrable experience of engineering product design within the oilfield sector within a business focused on decommissioning and subsea services.
- Proven people management experience in a technical/engineering role
- Significant relevant experience of developing design solutions.
- Detailed design development, checking and approval.
- Costing of engineering output for proposals
- Experience in project management principles and processes – including budget tracking and forecasting to completion.
- Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
- People management skills
- Building and developing relationships within a team environment.
- Ability to manage engineering deliverables in a fast-paced service environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Technical trouble shooting and effective diagnosis.
- Computer literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project
- SolidWorks CAD Software
- Engineering verification through calculation
- Leads by example.
- Effective team member and actively engages the wider Claxton team.
- Drives performance and delivers results in timely manner.
- Able to travel for business when required.
