Reporting to the Manager Product Engineering Support, the Design Engineer's role will optimize and verify precision mechanical actuators with embedded electronics and software (smart actuators) while supporting products in series production and ensure a smooth transition from New Product Introduction (NPI) to the Engineering Support team.
What a typical day looks like:
- Receive NPIs mass-produced products, resolve customer complaints, address supply chain requests, and implement quality and process improvements;
- Design and model all aspects of precise mechanical actuators and assemblies based on specifications set within the project using 3D CAD tools;
- Supervise co-development processes with suppliers in consultation with Supplier Quality Engineering and Supplier Resource Management;
- Participate in multidisciplinary project teams as a point of contact with regards to product design and support our customers on technical questions;
- Work together with the product engineer, model makers and test engineers on creating models and prototypes, creating tests and then documenting, analyzing and reporting the test results;
- Support the development of new concept together with the research team.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- A completed degree in a relevant field such as mechanical or mechatronics engineering;
- Relevant professional experience in a similar position ideally in the Automotive Industry, alternatively Aerospace and MedTech or another regulated environment;
- Experience with handover processes from NPI to support teams is highly desirable;
- Proven experience in supporting mass-produced products, resolving customer complaints, addressing supply chain requests, and implementing quality and process improvements;
- Ideally some experience with similar technologies like mechanical actuators or developing mechanical or electromechanical parts and components for moving vehicles;
- Comfortable using 3D CAD tools, PTC Creo is preferred, but not a must have;
- Experience with finite element method, simulation (FEA / FEM) and failure mode analysis (FMEA);
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Dutch is nice to have.
