What is the role?
The Engineering Manager - PCB Design Delivery will lead a team of 5 to 6 professionals in delivering high-quality printed circuit board designs while optimizing processes and ensuring the successful deployment of PCB projects. This role requires robust project management skills, in-depth knowledge of PCB design, and proficiency in using Jira for managing tasks and ensuring efficient project execution. The ideal candidate is not a product owner but a delivery-focused leader specializing in bringing projects to successful completion.
Some of your daily tasks will include:
Delivery Leadership:
- Direct and oversee the delivery of all PCB design projects.
- Ensure that the deliverables are aligned with the technical and quality specifications agreed upon.
- Manage timelines, resources, and scopes effectively, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Project Execution:
- Utilize Jira to track project progress, manage the backlog, and ensure tasks are completed promptly.
- Conduct continuous backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings.
- Remove project impediments and optimize processes to enhance workflow and efficiency.
Team Management:
- Responsible for the deliveries of a team of hardware PCB designers and PCB layout engineers.
- Build a cooperative and productive team environment that fosters innovation and high performance.
- Handle performance appraisals, provide feedback, and assist in career development planning.
Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to implement stringent testing protocols.
- Ensure end-product quality by enforcing quality control measures and adherence to compliance standards and best practices in PCB design.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Serve as the main communication link between the team, other squads, and system engineering squads, mechanical engineers, etc. Work towards the clarification of requirements and transition them to the respective stakeholders.
- Regularly update stakeholders on project status and potential risks.
- Collaborate with various functional teams to understand comprehensive project requirements and expectations.
What do we look for?
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related fields.
- At least 5+ years of hands-on work in PCB design and manufacturing, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial role focused on project delivery.
- Expertise in managing projects using Jira and implementing Agile methodologies specifically tailored to hardware development.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Deep understanding of CAD tools (such as Altium Designer, Cadence) and modern PCB design practices.
