The System Engineer- Airfield Lighting Control Systems is responsible for performing configuration, validation, deployment, and testing, of Airfield Lighting control Systems (ALCS), Systems Engineers are at the core of ADB Safegate’s customer relationships in the Solutions Engineering business line, part of Airfield. The role is responsible for end-to-end customer projects, from supporting pre-sales and design to configuration, cabinet set up, testing and on-site commissioning. It is a cross-functional role that works with teams across the region. This is truly an opportunity to have ownership, solve problems and grow the business. ADB Safegate will provide on-the-job training to obtain familiarity with ICAO Advisory Circulars and understanding the airfield lighting industry and product lines.

Job Responsibilities

Project Engineering Leadership

  • Lead project lifecycle from production release to customer acceptance.
  • Manage assigned milestones, deadlines and tasks.
  • Interface with system engineers and customers to assist in software design, development, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Effectively communicate project status to the project manager, team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion

Software

  • Perform configuration of ADB Safegate proprietary software
  • Perform configuration of commercially available software and hardware
  • Develop minor software modifications based on customer-specific requirements.

Hardware

  • Select and arrange procurement of suitable hardware for the ALCS.
  • Test, configure and commission the full ALCS.

Testing & Validation Support

  • Utilize software standards and processes to produce and execute test plans.
  • Perform in-house, field, and customer validation testing.
  • Test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.

Required qualifications & skills

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Industrial Automation or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience. Experience in the aviation sector is considered a plus
  • Practical knowledge in configuring windows operating systems, windows domain is a plus
  • Experience with Siemens WinCC SCADA software (or similar) is an advantage
  • Experience with PLC configuration (Siemens PLC S7 or other brands) is an advantage
  • Ability to configure and set up networks and network hardware
  • High attention to detail and rigor, can-do attitude, and desire to learn
  • Project management skills/experience -- ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, be a true team-player and effectively time-manage and prioritize under pressure
  • Ability to work cooperatively in cross-functional, multiple geographic location setting
  • Decisiveness and sense of urgency; ability to take action quickly on issues that matter
  • Strong English communication skills – written and oral - proficiency in Dutch, German, and/or French is a plus
  • Willingness to travel more than 7 days at a time
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 30% of the time
