As a Development Engineer at Garrett, you will drive the development and launch of new electric power train technologies. Focus on mechanical part for electric motor for full electric powertrain – working with international cross functional project teams and some of the world’s largest vehicle manufacturers. You will collaborate with other Development Engineers (gearbox, motor, invertor), as part of more complex development and launch projects.

Joining us means applying your knowledge to ensure successful design, development, validation and integration of powertrain components, assemblies, product lines and lead automotive electrification innovations.

You will:

  • Technically lead the development of a new electric powertrain solution with focus on mechanical part;
  • Determine product specifications and operating limits;
  • Coordinate specialized development teams (design, calculation, prototype shop, test lab and other specialists);
  • Define product validation and handover requirements (building prototypes, setting up test conditions), analyzing test results;
  • Collaborate with application teams, suppliers, manufacturing plants and customers.

Expectations:

  • Bachelor degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronic engineering or other related engineering discipline is required;
  • 2 + years of experience in product development related or similar activities in the automotive industry, with OEM customers or suppliers, or in an engineering center;
  • Expert knowledge in mechanical engineering, ideally electric motor construction, experience with bearing, bolts implementation.

Good understanding of:

  • Shaft design, bearing seating, drawings, basic analytical shaft strength calculation;
  • How to use finite element methods applied to static and dynamic analysis;
  • Manufacturing fundamentals, tolerances, drawings;
  • Basic knowledge on electric motor design, principles;
  • APQP process, skills to drive discussions with suppliers;
  • Fluent English - you will use it daily in spoken and written form;
  • Experience of working within an international team.
