As a Materials Engineer, you will be an integral part of our product development journey, contributing from initial research to production readiness. We seek an individual with a strong materials engineering background, a passion for research, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams.
What you'll do:
- Materials Research: Engage in thorough and comprehensive materials research, ranging from long-term explorations to production readiness.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging materials, and technological advancements to continuously enhance our product offerings.
- Materials Testing and Lab Management: Plan, execute, and analyse materials tests in the laboratory to assess properties, durability, and performance. This may include physical testing, microscopy or even simulation.
- Collaborate with the team to manage the materials lab efficiently.
- Generate valuable insights into materials and their properties, documenting findings in a clear and organized manner.
- Present research outcomes and insights to cross-functional teams, offering crucial information to guide design, engineering, and manufacturing decisions.
- Contribute to the development and management of a material library for the organization.
- Curate a collection of materials that inspires and informs colleagues across various functions, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
How you'll do it:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in materials research and testing, preferably in the development of consumer products involving prolonged skin contact.
- Strong understanding of materials properties, characteristics, and performance criteria.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
- Excellent documentation and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Beneficial experience: working with products involving prolonged skin contact, knowledge of rubbers and foams, experience with mass customization or consumer-modifiable materials.
