Purpose of Role:

The Senior Project Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful launch of projects, meeting critical milestones in scope, schedule, financials, and overall quality.

The Senior Project Manager is accountable for ensuring that everyone on the cross-functional project team understands and executes his or her role, feels empowered and supported in the role, knows the roles of the other team members and acts upon the belief that those roles will be performed.

The role will plan, monitor and manages internal projects from initiation through completion Leads or coordinates project planning, resourcing, staffing, supply and subcontract management, progress reporting, troubleshooting and people management Ensures project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule and cost Monitors performance and recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages planning and delivery of enterprise-level (higher dollar/higher impact & visibility) projects;
  • May direct activities of other Project Managers;
  • Responsible for on-time, on-budget delivery of projects within client/ organization expectations;
  • Coordinates project with business project managers;
  • Maintains appropriate project documentation levels to communicate project plan, requirements, schedule, budget, risks and solution;
  • Manages substantial budget vendor / consultant relationships to deliver project goals;
  • Assists with prioritization of work;
  • Contributor to project management strategy;
  • Reports on Projects;
  • Provide support and mentorship to project managers within PMO department;
  • Presents projects to business;

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Qualified project management professional with significant practical experience. Delivery of projects that required knowledge in manufacturing, purchasing and sourcing in an industrial manufacturing setting is desirable;
  • Experience of leading and motivating a team with day to day operational control over end results;
  • Proven experience of managing systems and processes in a corporate operational environment;
  • Operates within clear adherence to existing procedures and schedules with a keen eye on safety and efficiency;
  • Respond and react quickly to customer requirements or changes required;
  • High level of business and customer commitment expected;
  • Has sufficient knowledge of other functions and business operations to be able to work effectively in an integrated business team;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to operate with tact, diplomacy and integrity as required;
  • Education: Requires related Bachelors degree and specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise gained through minimum of 8 years related experience. Progression to this level is typically restricted on the basis of business requirement.
