General Responsibilities

  • Being responsible for the electrical hardware design and development of medical products;
  • Work mainly on Heart-Lung Machines comprised of electrical, mechanical, electromagnetic, user interfaces and software from both a total system as well as a component perspective;
  • Work on up-to-date High-safety HMIs, sensor probes and sensor interfaces, actuators;
  • Being responsible for designs that meet both internal and external customer requirements and are optimized for production, reliability and cost. He will work closely with the manufacturing team to support in addressing the manufacturing issues and offer quick solution from design perspective;
  • Go through the Hardware development cycle involving concept design, system and subsystem requirements, component selection, Schematic entry and PCB layout, cable and assembly drawings, flow and timing functional diagrams;
  • Work on prototype builds, analog and digital circuit analysis and troubleshooting and circuit test using laboratory equipment as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, function generators. He will also be involved in EMC testing activities and troubleshooting;
  • Conduct engineering testing including test and evaluation methodologies, protocols and procedures;
  • Cooperate with Manufacturing and Test engineers to develop testable and easy to manufacture products;
  • Cooperate with external suppliers for the development of third-party designs according to internal requirements/standards.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors/master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent;
  • Several years of experience in the development of electronic systems;
  • Familiar with sensors interfacing, power supply and microprocessor-based designs (E.g.: STM32);
  • Experience with Laboratory equipments;
  • Good knowledge of ECADs as Mentor PADS, ALTIUM;
  • Knowledge of requirement management tools as Polarion, DOORS, Teamcenter;
  • Knowledge of international standards, medical would be a plus (IEC 60601, ISO 13485);
  • Knowledge of IPC standards for design and manufacturing (IPC 2221/2222, IPC A 610 etc.);
  • Electronic systems schematic interpretation, electrical circuit design, electrical cable design, equipment troubleshooting and repair;
  • Able to work in a fast-paced multicultural environment;
  • Open-minded with a hands-on attitude;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Management of 3rd party contract suppliers, manufacturers, and test houses;
  • Good command of English language; fluency in German language is appreciated.
