The Role
As a Senior Power Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting projects around the world. Your role will involve designing medium and high voltage power systems and utilising industry-recognised power systems analysis software. Responsibilities:
- Produce engineering designs, calculations, and specifications using appropriate technical software.
- Utilise power systems software to model complex networks and run advanced power system studies.
- Co-ordinate input from other disciplines and specialisms as required.
- Prepare technical reports in accordance with clients' briefs.
- Supervise and co-ordinate the production of technical drawings.
- Check calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports produced by others.
- Attend and participate in client and project meetings.
- Undertake site visits to monitor the progress of works and address any issues.
- Correspond with external parties regarding information and technical queries.
- Comply with project management, operational, environmental, and health and safety procedures.
- Provide training and coaching to less experienced staff.
The Skills
Requirements:
- Degree in Power Systems Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in an Electrical Engineering role within the power systems field.
- Chartered Engineer status or on route to becoming one.
- Knowledge of G99 and grid compliance studies is advantageous.
- Familiarity with power systems analysis software such as DIgSILENT Power Factory, ETAP, or SKM-PTW.
- Proven ability to produce schematic diagrams, fault and discrimination studies, specifications, and project reports.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to overcome challenges with initiative.
- Passion for accurate power systems design.
