Role Summary:

The Hub Electrical team is part of the Hub Subsystem in the Land Constrained Engineering segment of GE Onshore Wind. This role is the Engineering Manager of a team of direct-report engineers who work on New Product Introduction of hub electrical components, including pitch systems, de-icing systems, and slip rings.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage team of 19 direct-report engineers with expertise in electrical and mechanical design, printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) design, and controls;
  • Deliver hub electrical system, including pitch system, slip rings, and de-icing systems, for 3MW and Cypress platforms on-time, at cost, and with quality;
  • Provide feedback and coaching to team through Performance Development process;
  • Lead salary planning for team to recognize and differentiate talent;
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, including product line, sourcing, PMO, manufacturing, and fleet support, to manage lifecycle of hub electrical system components;
  • Deliver hub electrical and pitch system technology plan to support Land Constrained multi-generational product plan;
  • Support supplier engagement to ensure quality of key components including motors, cabinets, wire harnesses, and PCBAs;
  • Work closely with program managers and commodity leaders to meet component and subsystem cost-out goals;
  • Support PMO planning efforts with schedule, resource, and budget allocation for key NPI and NTI programs;
  • Work with GE manufacturing plants to improve assembly process and reduce cycle time;
  • Advocate for “test and learn” culture to drive validation of components and subsystem. Provide cost-benefit analyses for equipment investment and test lab development;
  • Guide team through risk-mitigation efforts to quantify and reduce technical risk of components;
  • Drive cross-segment coordination of hub electrical and pitch system designs to ensure global consistency.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, and Mechanical) or equivalent from an accredited college or university) or equivalent knowledge or experience;
  • Experience leading technical teams in wind industry (turbine subsystem or component design),power generation, aviation or aerospace;
  • EU Work Permit.
