What are the responsibilities?

  • Provide leadership, supervision and responsibility for stress engineers assigned to the project;
  • Overall co-ordination of stress activities, review and development of a safe, economical and operable design in accordance with all company and project guidelines and specifications;
  • Create new and update existing Engineering Standards as required by project;
  • Provide support to Lead Piping Engineer for manhour estimates and manpower, schedule and budget planning;
  • Attend design review meetings as required, both internal and with the client;
  • Interface with Piping Design, Pipe Supports, Structural, Mechanical, Process and Instrumentation and other disciplines as required;
  • Ensure that stress related requirements such as allowable loads on mechanical equipment nozzles are fully understood by respective disciplines, and implemented by stress engineers;
  • Select critical lines and control the Critical Line List;
  • Ensure that deliverables within scope of stress engineers are produced in accordance with the Project schedule and the Critical Line List;
  • Provide technical and advisory assistance to other projects, offices, department manager and discipline excellence leader;
  • Communicate/present complex technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineering personnel;
  • Ensures adherence to Industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures and actively participate in the Knowledge Online Community through Forum Discussions;
  • Develop and maintain the project pipe support standards and procedures;
  • Technical bid evaluation of all engineered supports;
  • Check and approve datasheets for engineered pipe supports;
  • Supervise preparation of the Project Stress Analysis Report;
  • Assist in the development of departmental standards and procedures;
  • Perform and/or assist with technical audits;
  • Provide guidance to less experienced developing engineers;
  • Be fully conversant with stress analysis software.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Extensive and indepth relevant industry and FEED/EPC Contracts experience;
  • BSc/BEng or equivalent in engineering;
  • Be fully conversant with relevant Codes and Engineering Standards;
  • Onshore Oil and Gas design experience in upstream, downstream, and petrochemical sectors;
  • Workshare experience with Satellite offices;
  • Professional Registration preferred;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include, but are not limited to, management, co-workers, clients, vendors, contractors and visitors;
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time conscious and time effective manner;
  • Field experience.
