CONTEXT & JOB DESCRIPTION

The Vacuum Group provides services the ESRF accelerators and beamlines. Its responsibilities encompass a broad range of support. Join our dynamic team and play a key role in overseeing the vacuum systems across the entire complex of accelerators and ESRF beamlines. Your main responsibilities will include the following:

  • Conducting performance analyses to optimize systems;
  • Performing regular maintenance and repairs;
  • Undertaking projects to improve vacuum efficiency;
  • Assembling and testing vacuum chambers to precise specifications;
  • Modifying installations and troubleshooting;
  • Collaborating with teams for installation and providing technical support;
  • Cleaning and preparing components for vacuum exposure;
  • Documenting procedures and results accurately;
  • Participating in routine and emergency maintenance, with mandatory standby;
  • Developing and implementing innovative technologies and repair techniques.

EXPECTED PROFILE

  • Technical degree in Mechanical Construction or Metrology (BSc, Licence, HND, HNC, BTS, DUT, Bachelor, Meister, Vordiplom, Perito, Laurea Triennale, Diplomatura, lngenieria Tecnica or equivalent) with a minimum 120 ECTS);
  • At least five years of professional experience in the machining, assembly and testing mechanical components;
  • Proficiency in PC use and standard office software;
  • TIG welding experience is preferred with knowledge of high/ultra-high vacuum practice considered a plus;
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn about vacuum and UHV systems;
  • Knowledge of electrical heating and electrical safety is an advantage.

  • Adaptability, autonomous with a proactive attitude;
  • Skilled in analytical thinking and problem-solving aptitude;
  • Basic proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF).

WORKING CONDITIONS

Permanent contract.

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
