This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on an exciting contract within the business and also give you exposure to the whole ship electrical systems.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer – Electrical Platform Systems will involve:
Develop electrical design specifications under guidance and carry out electrical design activities in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards. Examples of engineering output are electrical schematic diagrams, electrical design calculations, and electrical specifications.
Participate fully in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in electrical engineering areas in response to technical developments and operational need.
Carry out technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the design of improvements.
Prepare electrical technical equipment specifications; develop mechanical designs in line with all specifications and standards.
Contribute to process improvement within the operational and/or engineering team to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle time and asset utilisation.
Liaise with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters.
Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development.
Contribute to engineering team decisions to support the effective performance of the team.
Make electrical engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility.
Answer technical queries about own work within their level of knowledge and competency
Your skills and qualifications:
Knowledge of at least one of:
LV Distribution, QPS and Electrical Safety
LV Protection Systems and Earthing Systems
LV Cabling and Cable routing
Portable Apparatus and Domestic Supplies
General and Special Lighting
Hull Preservation Systems
Degree qualified in electrical engineering or related field or studying towards. Working towards the requirements for registration as Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council
5 Years’ experience in engineering or a defence related industry
Experience liaising with external stakeholders
