Job Summary

AECOMs Streets team in Cork are looking for an experienced Transport Engineer.

We are looking to grow this team with individuals who have a sound technical background and business development capabilities that share our enthusiasm and determination to develop our business.

The job duties includes:

  • Perform various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department;
  • Full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments;
  • Plan and develop engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches;
  • Maintain liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization;
  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc, BEng or MEng degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject;
  • You will have excellent technical and communication skills along with experience of undertaking a range of traffic engineering design projects;
  • Demonstrate experience of traffic engineering/management design at concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed design level.

Ability to demonstrate experience or understanding in the following areas:

  • Understanding of Health and Safety including PSDP responsibilities;
  • Working on a variety of projects as project manager or task manager leader;
  • Urban street, traffic signal, cycling, walking, road safety, public transport, ITS and parking design;
  • Application and use of Design Manual for Urban Roads and Street, the Traffic Signs Regulations and Traffic Signs Manuals;
  • Proficient user of AutoCAD;
  • Dealing directly with clients;
  • Contributing to bids and proposals;
  • Mentoring junior staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • You will be a Chartered Engineer or will be working towards an appropriate Professional status with membership of a professional institution over the next 12 months.
