JOB DESCRIPTION

To drive the petroleum/reservoir engineering effort in the provision of specialist knowledge & technical support to the Weatherford completion/sand control business segment, geo-zone network and external clients.

The principal petroleum engineer is responsible for the provision of technical support on petroleum/reservoir engineering matters. Duties include: petroleum/reservoir engineering research, sand control due-diligence and selection studies, reservoir and well performance modelling, input to the sand control product line R&D effort, training provision, industry event representation and business development support.

  • To drive the efficient use of sand control petroleum/reservoir engineering resource in line with business needs.
  • Identify and conduct petroleum/reservoir engineering research on Sub Surface Engineering projects, aligned with business needs, to ensure enhancement/development of Weatherford’s completion/sand control portfolio.
  • Provide petroleum/reservoir engineering support to the geo-zones and external clients in areas of completion design, sand control selection, evaluation due-diligence and field operations support.
  • Tasks including: dynamic reservoir modelling/inflow/outflow performance modelling (PROSPER, REVEAL, Eclipse, NETool/WellFlo/Optim), erosion evaluation (erosion modelling/CFD analysis), rock mechanics/wellbore stability modelling (EWBS/FEA) etc.
  • Support the business development effort through communication of petroleum/reservoir engineering expertise to our customers (e.g. ICD selection and performance).
  • Support the product development effort through the provision of petroleum/reservoir engineering input on development direction, R&D testing and product qualification.
  • Provide petroleum/reservoir engineering input & guidance for problem job/RCA investigations.
  • Produce & deliver technical papers/presentations in relation the completion/sand control petroleum engineering function for client meetings, industry events, forums & conferences.
  • Actively contribute to the development & delivery of petroleum/reservoir engineering training to support personnel competency & business growth.
  • Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfil these.

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • (Professional, Technical, Academic Certificates required for the job).

Essential

  • Possess a degree level qualification in a Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering discipline.

Preferred

  • Possess an MSc level qualification in a Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering discipline.

EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCE

Essential

  • Must have extensive petroleum/reservoir engineering experience in a sand control completions role.
  • Ability to effectively utilise dedicated resources, and the ability to plan, control, and take responsibility for petroleum engineering workload.
  • General understanding of global oil industry & awareness of the key operators/technology users.

Preferred

  • Oil & Gas operating company experience.
  • A proven track record in the development &/or application of new technology.
  • Commercial experience as a provider of &/or as a customer for oilfield products & services.
