Position Description:

The Nuclear Product Leader will oversee and direct all activities for the assigned products including all original equipment, aftermarket and associated accessories worldwide. In so doing they will:

  • Develop, communicate and align Nuclear product portfolio strategy playbooks to drive growth, increased market share and profitability for the assigned products globally.
  • Execute strategies through NPD, MarCom and other specific projects with their associated business plans.
  • Develop and quantify the competitive landscape giving regular updates on progress to nuclear market leadership.
  • Lead, own, and execute all nuclear product development and other initiatives associated with the products like promotion, support, pricing and lifecycle management.
  • Partner with functional stakeholders to execute and implement the initiative business plans to achieve the planned payback.
  • Develop commercial and other new business models and commercial strategies to support growth targets where appropriate.
  • Systematically update strategies, playbooks, project plans and roadmaps pro-actively to reflect anticipated changing market conditions.
  • Develop, coach and mentor team members (direct reports and others) to improve the capabilities of the organization and function.
  • Act as a single point contact and product management advocate for local Operations executives and other functional leadership when specifically assigned.
  • Lead and drive specific regional (localization / globalization) initiatives in collaboration with other product leaders.

The Nuclear Product Leader will partner with the appropriate business unit stakeholders, Sales, Marketing, Commercial Operations, and other functional leaders to define and implement global strategies to drive increased profitability for the products and services within target markets. The Nuclear Product Leader will also be responsible for translating and Commercializing those strategies into actionable investments including (but not limited to) New Product Development (R&D), New Technology Development, Sales Tools, New Sales Channels, Sales Training, Customer Marketing (MarComm), Operational Efficiency (CIP), Strategic Sourcing, Plant & Equipment upgrades, Mergers & Acquisitions, Divestitures, or other discretionary activities that require resources to execute. In so doing, the Product Leader will be responsible for leading multiple cross-functional virtual teams through influencing skills that deliver the associated payback.

Position Requirements:

  • 5-10+ years in heavy industry equipment (Preferred experience in the Nuclear sector) that spans multiple industries (e.g. Oil & Gas, Power, Chemical, or General Industries).
  • Nuclear Professional background will be preferred.
  • (4) Year business or engineering degree required (Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing or Electrical), MBA and/or Advanced Engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering, Sales, Commercial operations, Product Management, and/or Marketing of engineered products positions
  • Strong influencing skills with demonstrated ability to create, inspire, and lead virtual teams that deliver results.
  • Proven project management experience with history of successful project completion and payback.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Experience in a multinational company.
  • Bilingual strongly preferred.
  • 25-50% Travel required.

Preferences:

  • Define the boundaries of the nuclear product portfolio, strategic objectives, vectors of differentiation, and linkages to other product portfolios.This includes:
    • Defining realistic targets for year-over-year increases in total revenue, gross margin, and market share for the product portfolio over 1, 3, and 5 year horizons for both original equipment and aftermarket.
    • Defining the individual products within the portfolio that are required to satisfy the overall portfolio targets and objectives, including:i.The features, functionality, selling price, quote lead-times, and distribution channels (in cooperation with various stakeholders), and
  • The delivered product cost, manufacturing lead time, and global manufacturing footprint (in cooperation with stakeholders as needed):
    • Facilitating the creation of necessary tools and collateral required to promote and sell products, and conduct associate and customer training on those tools and collateral (in cooperation with other stakeholders as appropriate).
    • Defining and controlling the global product technical definition in various configurators and ERP systems where the product can be quoted or sold (in cooperation with Sales, Comm Ops, IT, and others).
    • Leading the creation of all needed product literature and documentation, including web site content.
    • Leading competitive benchmarking efforts at validating and/or defining that the product’s market positioning is consistent with strategic objectives for the portfolio.
    • Ensure product compliance with specific nuclear industry and regulatory standardswhere necessary.
  • For each product in the portfolio, developing and maintaining a forward-looking product plan that links together the near- and long-term financial targets (including average selling price, volume, and gross margins) of the product with the required investment benefits associated with discrete, tactical projects/initiatives identified in that product plan.This also includes: Developing and maintaining detailed Project Charters that are clearly bounded in time, scope, and cost, for each project defined within the Product Plan.
    • Establishing and maintaining the relative priorities and trade-offs between the projects.
    • Assessing the return on investment for each project and reconciling the resource needs for those projects against individual unit or functional budgets.
    • Supporting the execution of these projects on an as-required basis (highest priority projects will be driven and managed directly).
    • Lead Project Management to develop the budgets for selected projects with selected milestones and key decision points, the establishment of project review meetings to assess progress against plan and ensuing actions.
  • Utilize a train-the-trainer approach to provide the necessary product training to Comm Ops, Sales and other related functions.
  • Set and maintain recommended list price for all products in portfolio, in cooperation w/Sales and Commercial Ops, to ensure that the Platform sets and manages the price of the product based on value.
  • Develop comprehensive product reference materials and communicate to the CO organization.
    • Monitor the overall volume, revenue, and profitability of the product portfolio, both before and after the aforementioned projects, OE&AM, and refine/update the product plan as and when required.
