Lead a global product development team in a global engineering organization where strategic programs, product proliferations and cost reduction projects are carried out.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute on Product Development Strategy:
    • Define and execute on strategic goals for NC Engineering together with his/her peers;
    • Support Project Portfolio management activities together with PMO (Project Management office);
    • Identify, initiate and/or execute product proliferation and cost reduction projects together with his/her team;
    • Actively searches for best-in-class technologies and develops technical roadmap together with system architect and other R&D teams etc.).
  • Resource Management and team leadership:
    • Prioritizing, planning resources supporting Product Line Management, Operations and other stakeholders;
    • Ensures personal development of the individual team members on technology and soft skill topics;
    • Define and execute on effective communication plans to keep the team aligned and engaged;
    • Target setting for the individuals in the team and performance ratings;
    • Hiring and dismissal of employees in the team.
  • Project execution:
    • Supports the project teams in meeting their milestones and deadlines and mediates conflicts between different stakeholders;
    • Tight collaboration with other product development teams, labs other stakeholders in US, Mexico, Czech Republic, India and China;
    • Quality assurance of project deliverables;
    • Ensuring fast and flawless execution of change management processes (CMO’s) in his/her team;
    • Challenge processes and tools in terms of quality, efficiency and drive improvement of processes and tools, define and introduce “best practices”;
    • Interface to Product Management, Operations and other functions and achieve consensus with stakeholders.

Profile:

  • Master in engineering or science, or equivalent by experience;
  • >10 years working experience in an R&D environment, ideally also as development engineer;
  • 5 years of experience in a managerial role, preferably in an R&D environment;
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering and management tools and processes;
  • Technical knowledge of products within the business unit desired;
  • Fluent English;
  • Strong leadership skills: confident leader with team building skills and the ability to manage relationships and influence decisions within a group of highly skilled technical individuals and outside this group;
  • Capable of working in a matrix structure where especially product design decisions must be aligned with system architects (peers) and other stakeholders (e.g. PLM);
  • Drive for excellence and challenging his team;
  • Capability in managing people and projects in a complex multinational environment;
  • Analytical rigor with good synthesis and solid process management;
  • Excellent communicator up to senior level;
  • Reliably delivering assignments in time and quality.
