Scope of work

As a consultant for the Inspection of Mechanical Equipment, mainly piping, your activities are the following :

  • Contribute to guaranteeing the mechanical integrity of static equipment, in particular piping, to ensure the safety of people, the integrity of goods, respect for the environment, compliance with regulations, while ensuring optimal availability of facilities and therefore the ability to produce and serve the customer;
  • Manage the inspection program of pipelines and work equipment subject to periodic control at a petrochemical site, its monitoring and traceability and manage specific projects for inspection;
  • Ensure the preparation and establishment of the pipe inspection program (PIT) and coordinate its implementation in collaboration with the Inspection Manager;
  • Establish or update pipe inspection plans according to their criticality (PIG according to RBI & PIA), based on procedures, guides and manuals of the RC division, taking into account innovative and convincing techniques;
  • Communicate with the contract control service providers the technical content and the intervention schedule;
  • Draft fire permits and special permits;
  • Implement and coordinate in the field the inspection and control actions provided for by the inspection plans (PIT);
  • Coordinate with the maintenance schedule the work of the control providers;
  • Enforcing safety rules by external stakeholders (inspectors and subcontractors);
  • Check the billing elements of the control providers;
  • Ensure the update of technical and historical data and calculations (ORBIT Software Onshore DNV) necessary for inspection based on criticality (RBI according to API580), especially for piping;
  • Ensure the management of the inspection of the equipment subject to periodic inspection (lifting equipment …) with the SECT, in collaboration with the officer of internal inspection;
  • Formulate, document and present the requests for preventive or corrective actions;
  • Supports the study and realization of specific projects related to inspection, (non-intrusive inspection, PIG / PIA according to RBI).

Qualifications / Background

Experience required in the following fields:

  • Mechanical engineering, steel metallurgy;
  • Inspection API standards (API570, API574 …);
  • Damage to pressure vessels in refining and petrochemicals industries (API571);
  • Control techniques (destructive and non-destructive);
  • Main construction codes (ASME VIII) and API 579 (FFS);
  • Hygiene, safety and quality rules applicable to the inspection;
  • Belgian and European regulations regarding pressure equipment;
  • MS Office tools. (Word & Excel);
  • Technical English;
  • CREDO software (Data base under ORACLE);
  • SAP software (RM-INST);
  • SYNERGY RBI software from DNV (Risk Base Inspection) or API 580.

Experience:

  • Proven experience of at least 5 years as a petrochemical or refinery inspection engineer.
