  • To support the Electrical Engineering Division in the cable engineering and cable tray design for all ITER buildings and site tunnels/galleries;
  • To produce the technical documentation required for the call for tender and manage the subsequent procurement contract for the cables, connectors, junction boxes and miscellaneous electrical items;
  • To follow up the procurement of cable trays and supports;
  • To perform in-field engineering activities related to electrical components.

Main duties/Responsibilities

  • Produces the technical documentation for the call for tender to procure cables, connectors, junction boxes and miscellaneous electrical items in the Tokamak complex. This tender includes both Safety and non-Safety related items;
  • Manages the contract of the supply and delivery of the cables and other electrical items. This activity will require the coordination with the logistics team for the delivery and storage of the items;
  • Produces the detailed design of cable trays and cable routing for the nuclear and non-nuclear buildings, including other associated areas;
  • Implements the guidelines and rules established by the Electrical Engineering Division for routing and installation of power, instrumentation and control cables; in compliance with the Safety requirements related to cables and trays, mainly for the fire sectoring and gas leak confinement;
  • Follows up the cable engineering works as performed by the external contractor;
  • Provides in field engineering to produce Work Package and assistances in the construction site;
  • Issues the technical documentation required for the procurement and installation of cables, cable trays and cable termination assemblies;
  • Executes on-site verifications and acceptance tests;
  • Performs other duties in support of the project schedule as described in the Detailed Work Schedule and the Strategic Management Plan;
  • May be requested to be part of any of the project team dealing with the above activities and perform other duties upon management request;
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays;
  • Under the supervision of the Cable Management Section Leader, reports to the Electrical Engineering Division Head;
  • Acts as an interface between all members of the Electrical Engineering Division, ITER Design Office, Engineering Support Companies contracted by the ITER Organization and the ITER domestic Agencies.

Measures of effectiveness

  • Completes the requested engineering design, procurement and installation activities of the cable engineering team within the defined schedule in full support of the logistics team and Cable Engineering contractor;
  • Communicates effectively with other sections and departments of the ITER Organization;
  • Coordinates and makes direct efforts with the Domestic Agencies in respect to the design, installation and commissioning of the cables;
  • Implements properly the guidelines and established rules in all activities including in-field to be carried out in compliance with safety requirements;

Level of study

  • Master or equivalent degree.


  • Electrical or Electro-Mechanical engineering.

Level of experience

  • At least 5 years.

Technical experience/knowledge

  • At least 5 years of experience in cable engineering for large scientific or industrial construction activities;
  • Good experience in large procurement of cable, connectors or cable trays;
  • Experience in technical integration/coordination for the construction of large (science or industry) projects would be an advantage;
  • Experience in electrical safety related items would be an advantage;
  • Good Project Management experience is required.

The required education degree may be substituted by extensive professional experience involving similar work responsibilities and/or additional training certificates in relevant domains.

  • Microsoft Office suite;
  • Database knowledge would be an advantage;
  • CATIA V5, See System Design and/or AVEVA would be an advantage;
  • Stress Analysis tools (such as ANSYS) would be an advantage.


  • English (Fluent).
