Nalco Champion is seeking a QC Team Leader to join the Aberdeen Manufacturing Plant team on a fixed-term basis for a period of up to 12 months. You will deliver value to our customers through the provision of a rapid and reliable QC support function to the business by monitoring product quality and resolution of quality problems. You will manage the Aberdeen based QC team to ensure effective support to the plant on technical and service aspects of production. Providing laboratory technical problem solving, troubleshooting and product development support, while complying with all appropriate ISO quality and safety standards.

What You Will Do:

  • Drive safety through the laboratory by ensuring the team are trained and competent in laboratory procedures and safety culture;
  • Manage QC Team resources in Aberdeen to meet business requirements;
  • Report metrics in a timely and accurate manner and partner with Manufacturing and RD&E to ensure robust manufacturing procedures result in high quality materials;
  • Validate quality control results through statistical process control (SPC) charts to highlight potential problems in production or QC test methods;
  • Provide quality control support and technical solutions to solve customer problems including liaising with other QC groups to share experiences and transfer knowledge;
  • Develop chemists through training and customer exposure to enable us to support the business;
  • Assist in recruitment, appraisal and people development processes to ensure a continuous stream of high calibre personnel;
  • Support the Management of Change (MOC) process within the Plant, leading the process when required;
  • Manage the Plant Red and Blue Lists for chemical risk and support the Aberdeen Product Introduction process via eSPRINT evaluations;
  • Improve standard of reporting to highlight manufacturing issues to plant management and RD&E with proposals for resolution of issues with project plans and resource requirements.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Advanced technical degree preferably in a chemistry based discipline;
  • Experience of managing people;
  • Relevant industry experience;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
