Role Summary:

The Engineering Manager Low Voltage and Control Hardware will provide technical leadership and strategy for the low voltage electrical components, of GE’s wind turbines. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers to deliver requirements and new designs for low voltage and control components, execute business critical New Product Introductions according to plan, drive cost competitiveness, and ensure world-class performance.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Engineering Manager Low Voltage and Control Hardware is part Electrical Sub-System Team within the Onshore Wind Land Constrained Engineering Organization. The scope of this global team includes the overall electrical system of our wind turbine products and its components like Generators, Transformers, Power Conductors, Cable Harnesses, Converters, Electrical Switchgears & Control Cabinets, aviation lights, fire detection etc.The broad scope of the team and the global responsibilities of this Engineering Manager position provides great opportunity to drive engineering excellence and quality, as well as to optimize the wind turbine electrical components on cost and reliability.

As the Engineering Manager Low Voltage and Control Hardware, you will:

  • Lead the strategy, new technology, new design, fulfillment and sustaining efforts for low voltage and control hardware components for onshore wind turbines
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders such as Product Line, Supply Chain and Services to execute strategy, grow share & profitability, drive corrective/preventative actions and deliver for our customers in world class quality
  • Drive Engineering excellence for your team, ensuring compliance and adherence to Renewable Energy Engineering processes
  • Lead a global, diverse Engineering team with responsibility for setting priorities, shaping culture and strategic planning
  • Develop and execute component technology roadmap that drives modularity and competitive component re-use across platforms
  • Provide leadership, technical direction and mentoring to strengthen the discipline, quality, reliability and rigor of engineering work
  • Ensure appropriate operating rhythm to ensure robust cost-out project deck and world class component performance
  • Engage with customers to drive their success through fleet monitoring and issue resolution
  • Develop and execute customer facing and internal strategy for components, component testing and field validation
  • Ensure business metrics are met, drive simplification, productivity and overall team performance
  • Provide leadership with high integrity and oversight of processes protecting intellectual property, export controlled information and strategic technology

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Electrical Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent knowledge or experience
  • Proven low voltage & controls technology expertise
  • Ability to lead in a cross-functional and global environment
  • Self-motivated
  • Availability to travel 15% of the time

Non-national candidates are responsible to know the minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country: NIE- Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain. They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not sponsor this requirement.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams
  • Positive mindset with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Deep wind industry expertise with proven results developing and implementing component design
  • Strategic thinker, with demonstrated ability to set vision and lead team to successful outcomes
  • Strong wind turbine electrical system expertise (control HW, control SW, generators, power systems, transformers, etc.)
  • Experience with technical drawings, documentation and BOM (Bill of Materials) structure
  • Experience with design for six-sigma, design for reliability, design for manufacturability and design to cost
  • Strong presentation, communication and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work horizontally across teams
