The Department of Aeronautics and Aerospace at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics is hiring for a full-time academic position in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics with applications to aerospace engineering. Our intention is that the position will be offered at the assistant professor rank with a starting date of March 2019, but outstanding candidates at the rank of associate professor (6 years of recognized professional leadership experience in aerospace research) will be considered.
The von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics provides post-graduate education in fluid dynamics by encouraging “training in research through research” in an international environment. The von Karman Insti-tute promotes creative research in the field of fluid dynamics. The Aeronautics and Aerospace Department is focused, in particular, on activities at the edge of aerospace technology and basic research in strong collaboration with space and defense agencies as well as industrial partners.
The successful candidate will develop innovative courses and will conduct research on the development of numerical simulation tools and methods in fluid mechanics, and on their application to aeronautics and aerospace, including verification and validation. The candidate will develop a funded research pro-gram in close collaboration with the other research units of the department. Areas of particular relevance include:
Potential candidates are invited to visit the department website for more information about our research activities: http://www.vki.ac.be.
