We are looking for an expert in space system engineering and operations - Could this be you?
Do you want to work in the hub of space and satellite technology in Europe? You could be a part of a pioneering high precision ocean altimetry mission at Europe’s Meteorological Satellite Agency (EUMETSAT). You will be working with a like-minded team of specialists who are at the forefront of developing meteorological satellites to monitor the weather from space 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This mission is an exciting and fast-paced multi-partner programme involving two satellites with committed launch dates in 2020 and 2025.
This is a challenging and rewarding role offering variety and responsibility from day one. Reporting directly to the Jason-CS Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the management and co-ordination of all system engineering, verification and validation, operations preparations and scientific activities with the other mission partners. Your specific focus will be on system coordination and development of the ground segment. This is a very hands on role and, as an expert in space system engineering, you are key to its success.
Along with a degree in engineering in a relevant subject, you shall ideally have skills/experience in each of the following:
- Proven experience in space system engineering and operations, preferably in Earth Observation Systems;
- Experience in System and Ground Segment architecture definition and development, with complex and multiple interfaces, including management of contracts;
- Experience in the complex system operations with real time components;
- Good knowledge of development lifecycles;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with different people, from senior management to employees, partners and suppliers.

All applicants must be a EUMETSAT member state national with a good working knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written. You also require some knowledge of French.
