A vacancy for a Development Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Friedrichshafen. The successful applicant will join “TSOTA22 - Electrical Systems Germany”.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Being responsible for the Electrical Interface and Harness work packages incl. the deliveries of related items (documentation, models, hardware) in space programmes during the B/C/D phases, in cooperation with supports, partners and subcontractors
  • Being the point of contact to the customers and suppliers for all El. I/F and Harness aspects
  • Taking care of the analysis of the applicable customer and mission requirements
  • Being in charge cascading down the upper level requirements to the Electrical I/F and Harness requirements, contributing to the electrical architecture definition for el. I/F and issuing and maintaining the relevant documentation such as the GDIR, EICD and the Harness Requirements Specification applicable within the programme and to manufacturers
  • Supporting other electrical disciplines for el. I/F matters, performing co-engineering activities with and in support of suppliers in el. I/F design, and verifying if required
  • Contributing to the definition of the Remote Interface Units (RIU)
  • Producing the harness definition using the Engineering Base tool (by Aucotec) including:
    • Defining the functional and physical electrical wiring (Functional Channels (FC), Cable definition, Wiring List)
    • Preparing electrical diagrams (block diagrams, wiring diagrams)
    • Ensuring consistency with other engineering infrastructures (S/W engineering, Electrical Integration)
    • Generating exports to the harness supplier(s)
    • Defining the geometrical harness design in cooperation with mechanical engineering
    • Performing or coordinating the relevant analyses such as voltage drop, cable/connector de-rating and mass estimation
  • Coordinating work packages
  • Performing co-engineering with Harness supplier(s)
  • Coordinating harness supplier(s) and harness procurement in cooperation with supply management
  • Tracking the relevant design and MAIT activities at the supplier level
  • Supporting relevant operations and AIT activities at the system level
  • Contributing to related internal/external R&D and improvement/standardisation initiatives
  • Contributing to extensive space electronics design (manufacturing experience would be a great asset).

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in engineering
  • Experience in the harness Tool Engineering Base by Aucotec or other comparable tools would be an advantage
  • Hands-on harness engineering, design or manufacturing experience would be a plus
  • Negotiation level of English and German
